Book List
Entrepreneurs and business owners need to read more to do more in business. The IC is always scouting out books and articles for its members, so we’ve added “resources” to our website. It’s a place where members can read and learn. Check out our first 4 selections!
Dare to Lead by Brene Brown
Brene asks the quintessential question that many leaders want to know, “How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders, and how do you embed the value of courage in your culture?” Brene is a masterful storyteller and in this book, she crafts her research and story telling styles together to give the reader the answer to many leadership questions. Dare to read this boldly written book!
The One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard
If you’re thinking to yourself that you may have heard about this book or perhaps even read it a while back, you are correct! This is an oldie but a goodie and is one of Ruth’s all-time favorite books. It tells the parable of a newly appointed manager who is trying to learn how to be a successful manager. The principles of management are simply and powerfully told in this easy to read book. It’s worth a re-read!
Getting There From Here by Carol Walkner
Influencer Community member Carol Walker’s book is a transformational guide to help you in your life and business. Carol is a past master when it comes to getting creative. She’s a “refugee from corporate America” and a self-proclaimed expert at re-inventing herself. Her book is a handbook that guides readers from their current state to a future state of where “you want to be.” Carol does Getting There From Here workshops and currently working on her third book.
Great Meetings! How to Facilitate Like a Pro
by Dee Kelsey and Pam Plumb
If you run meetings this book is for you. A great guide in planning and facilitating meetings. Whether you run meetings at work, church or wherever, this book is a must read. Easy to follow and thoughtful suggestions help most people who read this book to begin to bring meetings to life and successful outcomes!
The Platinum Rule
by Tony Alessandra,
The CEO’s Playbook 1.0, Susan Hastings-Giebler
Stories That Stick by Kindra Hall
How storytelling can captivate your customers, influence audiences and transform your business. Ruth gives this a 5-star rating because she has long been a storyteller!
Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
Do you ever wonder after talking with a stranger about anything that somehow the conversation went all wrong and yet you can’t figure out why? Take a read through Gladwell’s latest book for insight and clarity when talking to strangers.
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
Originally published in 2012, this book sets the foundation of Brown’s theories on vulnerability. One of my favorite philosophers and a go to read for inspiration.
